Seattle doesn’t have a state personal income tax. They have a high sales tax rate. The millionaires tax rate just passed is trying to reduce that overall burden on people making below 1 million.

Its not the taxes. Its the rent prices around here. We have extremely predatory rental companies in our state. They increase cost of living yearly by $200-400 and its not like the cost of stuff itself the last 8 years has stayed affordable.

God this is scary Head of HR doesn’t know the cost of living in Seattle….. no it is more than 100k…. We are a family of 4 and do NOT have a lavish life. Our auto insurance is $750 our seattle propane bill is $695 monthly with a big bill in Nov and Dec even on a budget plan, property taxes are over 15k a year, groceries last week was $537 and that was with using a ton of coupons, etc…. Bare minimum for a family of 4 is combined 300k that’s to make sure you do everything you are supposed to (change tires, oil changes, get kids to the dentist regularly, go to your doctor when sick, pay for prescriptions, not be affraid at the grocery line check out, etc…. Seattle costs more than CA.
