My son (freshman) told me today that grades don’t matter if he’s not happy. He has 3 a’s 2 b’s and a C. We just want him to stop thinking “at least I’m passing”. He works with a tutor 2x a week.

My husband’s daughter is turning 16 and going to 10th grade next year and she doesn’t even know the capital of the state we live in. She said she spends all her time playing on her phone in class and googling answers to assignments. It’s not just parents. Schools don’t teach a lot of time too.

as a 3rd grade teacher this is so true. kids aren't reading at home anymore. they used to read for hours now they won't even pick up a book because they're too busy gaming,on social media, etc. it is so scary. then there's also comprehension....

I said to 2 separate teachers I’m concerned about my daughter’s handwriting, and they both said she doesn’t need to write, everything is done on the computer 😕

My kiddo is an adhd iPad lover. She is 12 and reads at a high school level. You know why? CAPTIONS. she was never allowed to watch movies, tv, YouTube,etc unless captions were on. Her comprehension of a word was always correct, but because of her adhd, her comprehension of a paragraph was lost on her in the beginning. She is able to focus better now. CAPTIONS!!
