in the UK the call handlers usually dispatch immediately and are to remain very calm during the calls. he is trying to keep the caller calm and able to provide information accurately. the call handler isn't supposed to get emotionally involved, he is to type details. it is their job

For people asking why the operator isn’t urgently calling the police, You can hear the operator typing, he is alerting police and ambulance as he is talking to the caller. He has to gather as much information as possible for future case.

People always make brain dead comments about the call handler. They are trained to stay neutral and get info. They 100% in most cases have already sent the alert and are providing the info to emergency teams on the way

you all seem uneducated-(which is get) ive worked in pol and ambulance (still in ambo) call handler takes the call - sends to dispatch while call ongoing - call handler will remain on the line whilst deployment is simulationusly done. 'nothing is delaying he dispatch' being calm is VITAL. if the CH seems panicked or rushed it WILL influence the caller.

The call handler messages the police immediately then carries on getting as much detail as possible from the caller. Police are already on their way.
