Well no batch codes aren’t expiration dates, but batch codes + their shelf life is lol. If the batch codes is May 1 2022 with a shelf life of 3 years it would be expired now…..

Beautyfinds even gets products that’s haven’t even been released yet ! There is a reason why I can still use a lot of my products 5-10 years old !

OK but you guys are selling things 6 years After the manufacturing date and most skincare only has a shelf life of 3 years so what's your explanation there?

Yes, but batch codes are very important, because like you said, they have a shelf life and they shouldn't be sold past that shelf life. For example, I bought Sol de Janeiro on here that was almost five and six years old and smelled bad! The brand confirmed it was past its shelf life and did not recommend that I use it. That is literally selling expired products!

Well in the US an expiration date when we are referring to beauty and personal care products stands for the absolute chemical breakdown point where preservatives fail and ingredients naturally rot on a shelf. The only reason it’s rarely printed on standard cosmetic labels in the US is because the FDA only mandates printed dates on over-the-counter drugs like sunscreens or acne treatments. For any other standard beauty and personal care products, manufacturers use batch codes as a standard feature to track the unopened typical shelf life- of 2-3 years. Trying to bring in the EU 30-month rule to hide old stock is ridiculous anyway, because that European law literally means an unopened product legally EXPIRES after 30 months on a shelf. A plastic factory seal doesn’t freeze time or stop an ancient 2021 warehouse formula from decaying into useless junk.

If you guys have received any makeup that is not in good condition report them to the FDA. Even if you received it sealed because it’s the companies responsibility to let people know that the makeup is years old and allow you as the consumer to determine if you want to take the risk and buy that.

What does last longer than 30 months unopened mean? Like it can be manufactured 5+ years ago and because it’s unopened it’s fine? Brands have to establish a shelf life which can vary depending on the product. How is this handled?

So what if the batch code shows it was manufactured 8 years 6 mos. Would you say that is safe to use? Skincare

I feel so much better watching your video. I was sooo scared from that other girls video !!! Thanks for clearing up the air. I have so much products from you and they never once smelled bad or looked expired or gave me a rash. They work perfectly fine. ❤️

A big part of it is that WN only allows 3 year batch code. So everyone is stuck on thinking 3 years is expiration (because technically to WN it’s no good for their platform). Also if you are selling to resellers, they don’t want over 2ish year batch code because they don’t know how long it will take to sell.

This is very interesting. I love learning new things. I never even knew that there were dates on the boxes so we’ll begin looking for that however I have lipsticks and eyeshadows that are over 10 years old for sure and I’m still alive love the topic thank you 🥰🥰🥰

You should definitely pin this! That way it doesn’t get lost as y’all post videos and the girls can say “see our pinned post for concerns about expired products” as people post these questions on y’all’s lives.

Personally, I'm not concerned with makeup as much as skincare. If I want to make a bid on something, I want to know the batch code, shelf life and or expiration date. I put a value on what I'm bidding on.
