Due to people buying knock off Mafex figures (CT specifically), that's a sale Medicom didn't get, therefore it's affecting their profitability. Regardless of your thoughts on CT, it's true that they're eating Mafexs profitability. Medicoms response is to reissue these highly sought after figures. Kind of like flooding the market. This (in theory) reduces people's reliance on CT and improves Medicoms/Mafex's market position. Although, Medicoms factory's don't like reissuing figures due to a multitude of reasons: 1. Japanese consumer law prevents reissues from being a different price than the original release. This means Mafex is selling these figures at a lower profit margin, meaning the company producing/manufacturing these reissues aren't getting as much money. 2. Further, reissues taking precedence over manufacturing of new figures (seen through year long delays) is further contributing to issues involving manufacturer dissatisfaction. This is reflected through Mafexs poorer QC. If one person has an issue, and the rest of the community is fine, it's most likely a user issue. BUT, Mafexs worsening QC means it's affecting more releases (particularly with reissues). Again, SHF isn't perfect, but Mafex is the undisputed king of QC. Furthermore, the amount of figures produced by Bandai compared to Medicom is starkly different. Medicom (7.8mil revenue vs Bandai 8.3il in 2025) indicates many more shf are produced per year than Mafex, yet Mafex QC is either on par or worse than shf dispite much smaller production numbers, meaning greater % of all Mafex products w QC compared to shf #shfiguarts #mafex #actionfigures #anime #figtok
