@holistic.habits.health: You’re Using Expiration Dates Wrong (Almost Everyone Is) You’re throwing away perfectly good food… because you don’t understand expiration dates ⚠️🥴 “Best before” does NOT mean “bad after.” It means quality—not safety. And that misunderstanding is costing you money every single week. Here’s how to actually tell if your food is still good 👇 Milk, eggs, and many basics? Stop trusting the date and start using your senses. Smell it, look at it, test it. Eggs in water? If they sink, they’re still fresh—simple as that. Honey? It basically never expires. If it crystallizes, just warm it up. That’s not spoilage—that’s normal. Canned foods? If the can isn’t dented, bulging, or rusted, it can last years past the date safely. Hard cheese with a little mold? Cut around it. The rest is still perfectly usable. Bread going stale? That’s texture, not danger. Toast it, turn it into croutons, or blend it into breadcrumbs. ••• But here’s where you don’t play games— Fresh meat, fish, and certain perishables? If they smell off, feel slimy, or look questionable… toss them immediately. That’s real spoilage. ••• This is the shift: Dates are guidelines. Your senses are tools. For generations, people didn’t rely on labels—they relied on smell, texture, and common sense. And it worked. Stop throwing away good food just because of a printed date. Save this so you waste less ✔️ Send it to someone who throws everything out the second it “expires” 👀 #expirationdate #expired #dairy #meat #bread

I absolutely love this people throw shit away that don’t need to be thrown away wasteful use your nose. You can see if things smell or taste bad sometimes my milk glass a week later than what it says sometimes it expires the day before whatever you know, I can tell in Fish if you can smell fish at all it’s old I wouldn’t cook it and I buy meat that has an expiration date like tomorrow. I take it home. I put it in smaller freezer bags and I freeze it immediately. You don’t have to waste things. I used to take fruit too and put it in a bowl of water with vinegar for about five or 10 minutes and then dry it off put it in the freezer on a tray and then put it in a freezer bag but now we don’t eat that much so I don’t use as much work but I do save money on my meat and stuff. I like eating good food and I won’t eat leftovers. They’ve been in my refrigerator three days I throw that shit out.

The thing with the honey is it is true? But trying to buy, honey, that is actually fresh enough, that it won't actually go off is near enough. Impossible, because a lot of them are got preservatives and water in them. When they don't even need it

I consume a lot of expired food regularly. As long as it passes the 3 confirmation test (sight, smell n taste) I don't see why not. I'm having it.
