@adamventurez: This is one of my most requested videos, I get DMs constantly about how I plan my trips, so here it is: 1. FIND A ROUTE Google the area and the rough distance you’re after. AllTrails and Komoot are both solid for seeing what other people have already done. I used Komoot for this one because you can drag the route around and tweak it to fit what you actually want. 2. SORT THE TRANSPORT Check what buses and trains run nearby, then adjust your start and finish to land at a station. For Exmoor the nearest train was Barnstaple and the closest bus to the coast went to Ilfracombe, so that’s where I started. 3. PENCIL IN YOUR CAMP SPOTS Open Google Earth and look for flat ground where you want to end each day. It’s a rough guide rather than a hard plan. If I spot somewhere better on the way I’ll camp there instead, but having something already in mind means I’m not hunting for a flat patch in the dark. One last thing: check the Peak Weather app before you head out. It shows conditions at different elevations which makes a massive difference when you’re camping with any altitude. My second night was on top of Dunkery Beacon and the app flagged it’d be way colder and windier up top than down in the valley. Meant I packed extra layers, pegs and guylines I’d have otherwise left at home. Genuinely worth a download.
