There were plenty of explanations ahead of time and it was not “overnight” Spirit gave warnings of this ahead of time. The acquisition by JetBlue was denied and they have been warning about this coming for a few years. The last few weeks they said it was coming if they didn’t get a bailout. They were not joking.
