@ferreeflow: When someone compliments you and you feel yourself shrink, deflect, or rush to give it back… pay attention. That moment is not modesty. It’s a mirror. Let’s name the elephant in the room, shall we? Most of us were taught that receiving praise is arrogant. That letting it land means we’re full of ourselves. So we learned to wave it off and make ourselves smaller. False modesty became our church and we have been tithing regularly ever since. But false modesty isn’t humility. It’s a performance of unworthiness dressed up as virtue. Real humility is being able to receive what’s true without distortion. The discomfort you feel when someone praises you is the exact distance between who you are and who you still don’t believe you’re allowed to be. A compliment is an invitation. And in that split second, you either let it land or you bat it away. We bat it away when our internal identity hasn’t caught up to our external reality. The way you receive a compliment is the way you receive everything. Money. Love. Rest. Opportunity. It’s all the same energy. So the next time praise comes your way, pause, breathe, and let it in. Don’t perform humility. Don’t hand it back. Just receive it. That’s The Mirror Principle. That’s The Reflected Human.
