@nadiia_verdi: Passau’s main cathedral, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, is the heart of the city and its most iconic landmark. The first church on this site already existed in the 8th century, but after the devastating fire of 1662, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in magnificent Baroque style. Construction of the new building began in 1668, designed by Italian architect Carlo Lurago. Today, it is considered the largest Baroque church interior north of the Alps. Its towers rise to around 68 meters, and inside you’ll find the famous organ, built in 1928, with nearly 18,000 pipes, one of the largest cathedral organs in the world.
