We need a Holistic vet that’s more natural and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!

Allergies stem from hypersensitive immune system which is something you can’t really change nor fix. If that was the case then humans should be better able to treat and prevent human allergies, which is not the case. Allergies are a life long condition that requires management and management aims at reducing the amount of allergy flares and decreases the severity of the flare up so the dog can be more comfortable. So yes most the medications and Rx foods are used to managers allergies, they cannot treat or prevent allergies. These medication and diets are also essential bc not every client has access nor can afford to work directly with a boarded derm vet and honestly most of these medications/diets are also utilized by them for managing allergies. So it’s interesting that you label this medications as masking allergies when in reality these therapies were never intended to diagnose/treat/prevent allergies but rather make the dog more comfortable and improve their overall quality of life.

Yep, kibble is highly inflammatory, gotta feed real food to feed the gut microbiome! Even toppers help- eggs, sardines and salmon oil are great

A lot of vets will recommend encouraging a healthy gut microbiome, I do it to clients all the time. Not a big fan of ”your vets don’t want you to know this”. Vet’s DON’T want sick pets.

My dog (8lbs) was having gut issues, one vet said he needed a million different things. So I went to another vet. They said, blend his food to a fine blend, mix it with water and let it dry into a soft paste texture. He’s had 0 issues since. His stomach was just too sensitive and tiny for dry kibble. Saved me SO much money. Safe to say I’ve used that vet since. I love a 0 BS, honest vet, that’s not money hungry

If you can't afford another supplement, try kefir. I give my German Shepherd about a half cup a day, and I get it at Aldi. His favorite is the blueberry.

Girl don’t get me started on Apoquel (coming from someone in vet med). I ENCOURAGE all dog owners to use probiotics. There’s a lot of good ones out there. Do the research. I personally use Platinum Performance - my choice was based on research and the fact that I use their horse line for my horse as well. I say this to say - lots of good products out there. Do the research
