TLDR: The TASM movies are great because they show Peter actually being smart and being a detective alongside him being the one who has the most fun and jokes in the suit which is what Spider-Man is in every comic except when in team ups. Long part : TASM movies are the best live action movie representation of spider man we get (hopefully surpassed by brand new day). For two main reasons, the jokes and the fun spider man/ peter has while being spider man and more importantly it shows spider man actual being spider man. He’s a genius and a detective (which all the other movies lack). I swear ppl who say TASM is a horrible representation of Spider-Man just don’t read Spider-Man comics generally bc Spider-Man is not street tier and never has been. He’s like a super man in that specific sense where he does help on the street a lot but it’s because he has a calling to help NOT bc he’s not strong enough or he wants to keep it on the down low. In comics he’s almost always dealing with an actual big threat (city to world level threat) so he has to prep for the encounter, figure out who the villain is and why they’re doing what their doing, alongside trying to dealing with the current chaos that villain is causing which usually ends up causing more street crimes. No other movies (the Toby movies and Tom movies) show this aspect of the character at all and if they do it’s either a punching fest like Toby or an excuse to get iron man tech like in Tom’s movies(expect maybe NWH but I don’t count that movie as just a tom movies bc all three of them are in it). Andrew Spider-Man is the only one who actually does research and plans for an attack. This is why TASM 2 even tho the movie isn’t always the best at making decisions and a bit of a mess is still great because it shows Peter trying to figure out a solution but it’s too late the encounter must happen and being unprepared costs him Gwen because he was spread to thin. That’s the story of Spider-Man and it always has been. Ps: Gwen is the best woman character in the Spider-Man live action movies too because she’s not shown to be helpless . MJ from tom has her moments but Gwen is needed to stop electro bc Peter is unprepared.
