To be fair if I gave a load of money to a charity and they decided to become a for profit enterprise and could now take my donations as dividends, I'd be pretty cross too.
I loathe Musk, but I'm not sure he's wrong.

Musk is the king of nonprofits, nothing he does makes a profit.

It’s not a claim. OpenAI was founded as a charity but changed when they found out the had a slop machine for profit.

I mean I hate Musk, but also I agree with him on some of the points he raised. openAI was about making sure AI was used safely, non-profit and for the good of people, Sam Altman did not do this.

you missed one key moment... musks emails suggesting to make open AI for profit. That wrecked what little chance he had.

"Musk has intense integrity when it comes to money" can you expand on that please? I've never heard anyone even remotely imply this. He is known to over promise and under deliver, isn't that the opposite of intense integrity?

So can I start a company with donations now? Then flip to a for profit? Seems weird but okay

The fact that Musk and Altman started this as a non profit makes things so much sadder for how AI is today

You eloquently outlined all of the noise coming out of the trial, but the signal is about trying to convert a nonprofit into a for-profit.

Musk’s potentially got a winning case here, but the dollar amount is absolutely ridiculous. He might get back what he initially invested plus some interest though.

Musk turned down stock is pretty clear cut for failure to participate. Hence, no offense

I for one don’t see how the judge could possibly force them back to a nonprofit after clearing regulatory hurtles, spent billions of dollars from other investors to buy compute that enabled them to build the current version of products they have today. Also I’m confused about all the headlines that keeps pointing that Altman is a liar and can’t be trusted to run an Ai company, when Elon himself is known for shady dealings, headlines, and quotes. Mind you OAi’s non-profit is or will be, I believe, the most funded nonprofit organization, but the answer I’ve been looking for is what’s that secret sauce OAi has that makes them the favorite to end the world with Ai there are other companies out there are building the same technology.
