@mammaandtommy: I’m sorry but I just don’t believe that 36% of parents are “lazily” opting to change nappies! It’s a horrific job that we can’t wait to be done with

My asd son just turned 6 and we managed to get him potty trained over a year , he was 3 when he was trained in the day but I’m still struggling at bedtime. My youngest appears to be typical , she’s 2 and I’m already planning to start her. I can’t understand why parents are not trying ! Most typical kids want to get out of nappies it’s mad

My little girl is 5 soon and she is still in nappies, she is on the pathway but also is under peads and surgeons for bowel problems, we have tried everything and more to potty train, she is now under ocupacional therapy… I would do anything for her to be able to use the bathroom for herself, us as parents and due to the fact the kids in school laugh, its awful… And its so expensive as well

Do people not realise how expensive nappies are?! I have a 4.5 year old in nappies and no comprehension of toileting, I would love to be able to go out and not have to change him on a toilet floor because there’s no changing station big enough for him

👏👏👏 the judgement parents get for not having a potty trained child is madness! My son started school no trained and the staff were incredibly supportive thankfully! Why in the life of me people think we choose the nappy change battles (yes, it’s a battle and a half isn’t it?!). Thankfully he’s toilet trained now, around 4 months after he started school 🙏 but not through lack of trying, it was just as if something clicked one day and he just did it 🙈

I think the bigger issue is people using neurodivergence as an excuse. Just because a child may be or is autistic doesn’t ALWAYS mean they can’t potty train at 2 or 3 years old🤷‍♀️

My youngest is 5 I was so happy when he could use the toilet, I however would love it if wiped his own bum, being woken at 5am by him shouting mummy wipe my bum bum is not the one.

I honestly don’t know where this statistic is coming from, I just don’t believe it’s 1 in 4. I’ve worked in nurseries and schools and havn’t seen those numbers

I’ve a 5 yo waiting on assessment but is was fully toilet trained b4 the age of 3 day and night. How ever also have a 6yo diagnosed in a Sen school who is not yet potty trained and can confirm it would be so much easier if she was potty trained as she drinks to regulate and the nappy leaks r an absolute nightmare xx

People are choosing. You can see the parents are lazy and don’t care about their development. Most of them have never been to nursery.

I could not wait for my daughter to be out of nappies! We tried when she just turned 2 and she weren’t ready. So we left it until she was 2.5 and she was potty trained in a weekend. Hardly any accidents. She’s now nearly 4 and goes toilet on her own but she still wears a pull up at night and I don’t really know how to go about night training

Yup! Same situation. My daughter is 7. She shows no awareness of needing to go. Tried just knickers, tried every 15 mins on the toilet, she just can’t get it. I’d love for her to have at least one thing that she can do independently, not for myself or my husband, but for her

Nobody wants to keep their kids in nappies its harder work. I toilet trained my sen child at 6 took 2 full years to be completely dry and be able to tell me when they needed the toilet. It was a battle but we got there. x

Excatly this, my son is 8 pre verbal and has been out of nappies since the week of his 5th birthday don't get me wrong it was harddddd work it took a week of staying in and building my life round the toilet 😅 but it clicked for him and been dry since because changing his nappy as he was getting bigger was harder work then him literally just going toilet 😅
