It's not easy to fandomize something that already satisfies you, because the 'turning it into what you want' is what makes fandom fun as an exercise. It's a transformative art form. Ngl if I think something is 'good enough', I just don't read / write fanfic, I don't read strangers' online discussions, I don't look for fanart, because everything I want to find is already contained within the work itself, which is complete to me. Almost everything I end up getting into a 'fandom' for is for children or has glaring flaws and gaps or things I find frustrating about it, *not* because I only consume that type of media, but because I get into a fandom to obsess over how *I* can improve it, what *I* can find in it. I believe this is why most fandoms create what is missing from the OG work.

I’d argue that FNaF only started becoming blatantly marketed to children when they partnered with Funko in 2016, which also coincided with the releases of FNaF World, the books and Sister Location. It was the point that the franchise was no longer a cobbled together indie horror series and became a business that had to actually focus on a specific demographic, which ended up being children.

I disagree with FNAF because FNAF has a lot of great writing and the real issue is fans not wanting to engage with the really interesting deep story that was made because it doesn't confirm their headcanon AUs

You've honestly got a really good point. I like the whole "ancient techno-mystical space goddess glamour" aesthetic of the Gems in Steven Universe but I just wish there was something like that with an actual epic sci-fantasy plot instead of it just being the backdrop for what's mostly a slice-of-life kid's show.

From my experience in FNAF you’re like, half right? It’s not just horror media they want but dramatic ghosts stories with intricate lore that lean heavily towards horror, but that may because I was mostly on Tumblr.

Ive never seen anything to do with this specific fandom, but I know people usually go to fandom to seek out what they can’t get in the media, like how a lot of kids shows will have very angsty fanfic, like Danny Phantom/MLP/ect, whereas angsty shows like Hannibal or Breaking Bad will have funnier, silly, lighthearted fan content
