High and Low (or Heaven and Hell, as it's called in my collection) is everything a movie should be. The blocking, the social commentary, the drama, the twists. The perfection of an entire sub-genre of movies that's never been rivalled. It is just extraordinaire

I agree! Dreams should be seen last! But i will say, from my own experience, I was shown dreams in a film class in high school as my intro to kurosawa and looking back at the other films i have seen of his, it was a phenomenal intro to the language and content that defines kurosawa! Thank you so much for sharing this video!

I don’t know it’s just my personal opinion, but you need to watch ran as soon as possible. Maybe I’m super biased because it’s one of my favorite movies, but do not postpone watching RAN for so long. I’ve watched 6 of his movies and I watched them in this order: seven samurai, RAN, high and low, ikiru, dreams, rashomon. The ranking is: RAN(5⭐️), high and low(5⭐️), seven samurai(5⭐️), dreams(4.5⭐️), ikiru(4⭐️), rashomon(4⭐️). I also want to say that Akira Kurosawa is one of my all time favorite directors and his movies are one of the reasons I love films so much
