Apply these techniques to help you successfully dive to 30m (100ft) ⤵️ 📌 Save this post as a reminder for your next diving session! ➡️ Learn the FRENZEL Equalization Technique 👅 Equalize your ears using only your tongue and throat muscles. 🌊 Practice this technique on dry land (on your couch at home!) and remember that repetition is key. To check that you are doing Frenzel properly, keep 1 hand on your abdomen while you equalize. If you feel any tension in your abdomen then you are not actually doing Frenzel. Once you get it, keep practicing and practicing - we want to make the Frenzel technique muscle memory! ➡️ Equalize Early & Often 🤿 Equalize your ears BEFORE you experience any pain or discomfort. And remember to stay relaxed - notice if you are holding any tension in your face, jaw, neck, and shoulders and imagine it melting away. Relaxation helps so much with facilitating successful equalization. 💧 We want to stay ahead of the pressure. If the pressure builds up too much and we experience pain in our ears, it means we have gone too far (and sometimes no matter how much we equalize, we won’t be able to counteract that pressure without injuring ourselves). So better to equalize early and often on your descent. ➡️ Facilitate Equalization 👂 These small habits can make a big difference when it comes to making our equalization successful! 🥥 Hydrating (with coconut water or electrolytes) before a diving session and avoiding excessive air conditioning can help to keep our sinuses from drying out. 🧘‍♀️ Facial massage, lymphatic drainage, and gua sea practices keep everything moving and flowing and can alleviate congestion. 🫁 Diaphragmatic stretching and neck/jaw stretches can also make a big difference in our relaxation and reducing tension. Important reminder to never practice breath holding activities in water alone. 🩵🧜🏼‍♀️ Wearing my fave wetsuit and weight belt from @brightbuoydiving Freediver - Freediving - Snorkeling - Ocean Lover - Learn to Freedive - How To Equalize - Frenzel Equalization - Equalize Ears #freediving #snorkeling #learntofreedive
