Me seeing 90s is likely. Three of four grandparents made 90. My folks are 87 & 86. Have health issues but still here. It’s a tricky call for me. The difference over those last 10(ish) years could be huge.

To even compare a dollar at 82 to a dollar at 62 misses the entire point for life optimization. That’s twenty years of additional memories, twenty years of better mobility, more energy, higher mental acuity. For just one moment, pretend you didn’t grow up in a world that told you to delay gratification until you forgot what you were delaying for in the first place.

This is 100% the right move! Unless you still want to or have to work full-time.

I am 60 now, 62 is my target. Spent the last 15 years getting debt free, paid of home and two car loans as well as student loan earlier in my life.

Tyler, what about the spouse? I’m younger than my husband by five years if he takes it at 62, does he lock in a set amount for me if 1/2 of his is better than mine? What should you do when you’re married with the younger spouse? Do you factor in both amounts and actuarial tables if one spouse is the higher earner? Your scenario doesn’t mention the spouse.

I am more concerned about the solvency of social security. I don't trust our government or politicians

My hubs took it at 62, had stroke 3 months later, still jokes to take it while ya can! Fortunately, fully recovered, 80 y/o. You never know what life will bring! 😊

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone! I plan on taking at 62 also. When you factor in COLA increases it just makes sense. And I 100% agree- I've waited long enough!👍🏼

What if you’re still working and want to continue? Doesn’t that affect the pay out?

Also, if you don’t need the Social Security, you can invest it and make more than you would if you delay payments

Why does everyone say to wait and keep working? In 52. I wanna retire at 65. What’s the best way to get there?

At my income level, I’m told that if I take my Social Security now, it’ll get chewed up in taxes.
