I haven’t seen any samples of ChatGPT’s Image 2, but I’m not surprised by the advancement in quality. Is it worrying? Absolutely. AI photos are still readily discernible from actual original digital images, but the line will continue to blur over time, and it won’t be long before each image will need something close to forensic analysis to show its authenticity. Each original image, if I’m not mistaken, has data properties included with each file, but not all of us have the time, capability or tools to conduct a deep dive into each image we see. Scary stuff, for sure.
