stretch out a pen spring until it becomes a long, thinner coil, it can work better as a DIY snare wire than leaving it compressed. When stretched: More of the metal can touch the drumhead. It vibrates more easily. You'll get more of a buzzing/snare-like sound. A few tips: Don't overstretch it or it may permanently deform or break. Using several stretched springs side-by-side usually sounds better than just one. Keep them lightly touching the bottom head. Too tight = little buzz; too loose = excessive rattling.

Yo i did it, im at lowbudget so instead of real snare wires i diy’ed one by geting an spring from a ballpen and stretching it, it sounds like a snare a little a little only tho but its the best than nothing!

1.cut out a cardboard circle, depends on what size your comfortable with. 2.roll out a sheet of cardboard as the shell(make sure it fits with the circle head) 3.glue the circle head with the shell. put snare wire inside by gluing it with cardboard (the cardboard acts as a strong tape holding the mesh tight) important:make sure the head is inside the shell (not too inside💀)

or you guys can use the following if y'all don't have snare wire: . . @chair:1. Guitar strings (best DIY option) Old or cheap guitar strings work really well. Just stretch a few across the bottom of the drum—pretty close to real snare wires. 2. Fishing line / nylon string This gives a softer, less “snappy” buzz. Not as crisp, but still works if that’s all you have. 3. Thin metal wires Like from electronics or cables—just make sure they’re thin and flexible, not thick or stiff. 4. Chains (for a unique sound) A small bead chain or thin chain can create a looser, rattly effect. More experimental but kinda cool. 5. Paperclips (straightened) Sounds weird, but if you straighten a few and line them up, it can work in a pinch.
