The project, located in Zhongwei City in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, connects a 500 megawatt photovoltaic power station directly to a major computing park operated under China Datang Corporation, with six of China's top ten computing enterprises already running centers on site. One company alone reported projected annual electricity savings of 14.6 million US dollars based on trial operation data. A 1.5 gigawatt wind farm located 40 kilometers away is set to come online before the end of the year, bringing the total projected annual output to 4.3 billion kilowatt hours and enabling carbon emission reductions of 3.65 million tonnes per year. This project is the physical execution of a policy directive announced in China's 2026 government work report, which called for coordinated development of computing capacity and electricity supply through hyper scale intelligent computing clusters. Zhongwei is already one of China's eight designated national computing hubs, chosen for its low latency data transmission, cold and dry climate, and exceptional renewable energy density. Ningxia's new energy capacity accounts for 65 percent of its total installed electricity generation. This is not an isolated infrastructure story.
