The original sphinx is under ground level in a enclosure pit. So the other one is too but covered in millennia of earth

I’m not that concerned about what the sphinx face was like, I’m more fascinated on why the 2nd one was buried. Must be a reason, and if not buried and naturally covered due to the weather and sand, why is it in a lower area, I mean if it’s buried, this is a lower level to the sphinx pyramids.

Still waiting for the movie where a group of young explorers find a way into the lost Labyrinth of Egypt. They get lost, discover ancient wonders, face trials etc... it kind of writes itself. 😳

It would make sense to have two . They sure liked symmetry. I’m not sure about a lion , but there are plenty of cheetahs in ancient art . It’s certainly some sort of big cat .

the documentary Secret of the Sphinx by j.a. west explained why the original sphinx's head could be of a lion. the controversial evidence presented was the sphinx current position aligned with the constellation Leo - the original builders in antiquity were very much influenced by astronomy. the documentary gave other controversial (imo highly probable) takes on why the monuments in Giza were older than the current age that had been proposed...just an amazing documentary, well worth the watch.
