@phoenixferals: We received Tom’s bloodwork results!!! They confirm that he has hyperthyroidism. I’ve left a message with a medical treatment specialist to see if Tom is a candidate for the radioactive iodine treatment. It’s a single injection that will destroy the abnormal thyroid cells, leading to a full cure in 95% of cats. I’ve had a streak of painful losses in the last year - where no amount of medicine in the world could save my pets and feral cats. So to hear the words “treatable” and “possible cure”… it’s really unbelievable and seems too good to be true 😭 Giving Tom and my other colony cats an indoor retirement home has been my dream ever since I met them. And it’s finally within my fingertips 😭💕 Stay tuned for more updates on Tom’s health journey as we get more information this week on next steps for treating his disease. Hes beautiful! My sons' buddy had uh ... I forgot what it's called, the throwing a blood clot thing that cats can have? not a stroke, it's different Anyway, my older son was at work and we didn't realize he wasn't aware my second one was able to get their buddy an appt at the vet until they were already there.. I'll always feel extra terrible about that one. But I'm so glad that your dude has a maybe at least!! 🥰
