@jessicallynch: Finding the right fit #investor as a founder of a startup when fundraising takes shots on goal - don’t take no personally, every investor is super different! #vc #startup #fundraising #FounderTips
I love this advice! When do you recommend that founders start talking to investors that could be a good fit? ASAP? Prototype but pre-revenue? Waitlist of customers?

Your "true believer" is such an important perspective because a lot of founders take investor hesitation personally. Sometimes the issue is not conviction in the founder or even the product. It is simply that the investor cannot properly map the market, timing, or operational reality of that industry. People invest fastest in things they deeply understand. Everything else feels riskier than it may actually be. More dangerous is, founders can walk away from those conversations thinking “the market isn’t ready” when really they just haven’t found someone fluent enough in the space to see the opportunity clearly.

This makes so much sense. I typically get a sense for that when I pitch. I can see whose eyes glaze over and who sits right up against the desk and leans in more. 🙂 I just messaged you and @Greg Raiz on here. Just had a quick question for you m guys that I’d rather not leave in the comments. Thank you for all the great advice!
