@hicarsondogss: A few weeks ago, I visited a shelter in Austin, Texas. And what I saw felt just as heavy as what I see every day in our shelters. Dogs who had been sitting there for months, completely overlooked, just waiting for someone to notice them. And it’s not only Texas. I have people from all over the world reaching out, asking how to adopt one of our dogs. Is it possible? sure… sometimes. Is it ideal? Not really. Sending a dog out of state isn’t as simple as putting them on a plane and shipping them off. There’s a lot that goes into it coordination, transport, and having a rescue step in to back that dog in case things don’t work out (a lot of coordination involved that we, as volunteers, simply don’t have the time or resources to handle) I personally don’t like getting involved in out of state adoptions, especially when there are hundreds of dogs sitting in shelters near you…all waiting for someone local to give them a chance 😓 So if ever post a dog that you feel called to help….take that as a sign to go visit your local shelter!!! 🙏🤍
