@thelastmaester: I’m not saying Rhys does this consciously: a lot of men think they’re feminists simply because they treat their mothers, sisters, wives and other women in their lives with respect, and would never hurt or belittle a woman themselves. But saying that Rhysand is a feminist and progressive is not quite true #acotartok #rhysand #performativefeminism #feminism #acotarseries

I am so curious to know if Feyre’s authority as “High Lady of Night” would have been respected/recognized if Rhysand stayed dead at the end of ACOWAR, and my gut tells me no. 😳

He was locked away for 50 years and came back and tried to restore the peace in his court his second and third are women he declared feyre a high lady according to the laws so not only is it legal but it also is acknowledged by the other high lords. The night court and velaris were there before he was a high lord and some of those laws and deals that limit him werd made before his reign. And when he did become high lord he actually gave people the chance not to force them into battle because he did not want to be like his ancestors he also started a strict program to prevent wing cutting ( correct me if im wrong maybe it was his father) and then he was captured. He takes women that are oppressed and are violated and gives them a job and shelter. You keep trying to make him a villain but when cassian and nesta came out with the valkeriy training he immediately approved and you forgot that in the rite they literally couldn’t do anything in a literal sense because not even his father and mother could take him out of it when it was his turn and you even KNOW that it wasn’t possible because he then worries for nyx’s turn since hes born illiryan and expresses that in the books. You keep ignoring all the facts and ignoring how he breaks all the rules to give the women in his life and court chances to become better. He even had a program for other females to practice in the illiryan camps and was obviously irritated when he noticed they were given chores instead of practice. Please READ the books and dont ignore all the things that made him different. Tamlin on the other hand had feyre sit in a wooden chair and told her to smile pretty. While Rhys made her his other half and gave her actual power and status. Not only does he confer with her on matters of his court he also gives her free reign to do and participate in every aspect of his life. Literally everything he does is for the sake of the women in his life and his court. Smh

Feyre didn’t get new powers from becoming High Lady — she already had those from the seven High Lords. But the title made her Rhys’s official equal in ruling the Night Court, not just his wife. It also seems to create a magical/political bond to the court itself, giving her authority, recognition, and access to the court’s wards and power structures.

Feyre is the High Lady but the orders are given by Rhys. Feyre does almost nothing as High Lady. Every decision is made by Rhys.

I really love Rhys, so much, but this is 100% true, he could do more than he does, I mean he is supposed to be the most powerful character, right? So use your power for things that truly change the world you want for your women and others. He is aware of the problems, but sadly he doesn't care enough to truly solve them):

I see what you are saying, but want to emphasize none of it was written on purpose. SJM views Rhys as the perfect guy, who makes mistakes yes but not with an agenda.

Me pareció despreciable, horrible, injusto.

He also said that anyone living in Nightmare Court who wanted to leave only had to ask Rhys and he would let them in, but are you going to tell me that the only one who wanted to leave was his cousin Mor? Because it's known that she was the only one who left there, meaning none of the other people asked for permission? Or is it really that he doesn't let Mor go out alone because of his cousin?

I actually dislike the feminist angle written into Rhys. It feels forced to me, like his entire character ends up revolving around it. Even the whole “pretending to be cold and cruel while secretly being kind, gentle, and understanding” aspect never worked for me. I much preferred the version of him we first met at the Spring Court — the man who made Tamlin and Lucien kneel. That introduction felt layered, intimidating, and genuinely complex. I wanted a character who stayed morally complicated, not one who mostly exists to validate and empower Feyre.

I see it very much in the same way that Rhysands father prevented his mothers wings from getting clipped because the mating bond snapped. He made her the exception to the rules because she was his mate. Feyre, Mor and Amren are just the exception to the rules, and they are granted this exception because of their proximity to Rhysand.

I need to spit out my venom, how can she encourage Feyre to use Illyrian wings to fly when illyrian women can't and suffer so much more?

Exactly! And HIS benefit doesn’t always include Feyre’s benefit. It’s not as a whole, it’s HIS benefit only.

He even outright admits he won't make sure wing clipping stop because he values the Illyrian fighters more. 🫩
