for anyone saying it's odd it was normal to paint roses to seek a certain colour for example blue roses aren't natural they put dye or paint in a sack with water at the bottom of the stem for the rose to absorb it's colour

nobody in this comment section watched the original or read the book and it shows. in the original, the queen of hearts wanted red roses in her garden but white ones were planted instead. so the servants are painting them red in hopes she doesn't notice and punish them. alice remembers this, that's why she says that.
