Well, yes & no. Property tax is really just a form of municipal tax. If you agree to own/buy a home in X town, you’re also agreeing to contribute towards funding that municipality (police, schools, trash removal etc). You can technically buy a dwelling in a town that has no taxes (or services).

I lost my house because of property tax. It was my dream home. No mortgage, my family paid in full. After 10 years it went from 8k taxes to 16k taxes. We couldn't afford it. Moving ruined our lives. Anywhere not drastically rural was too expensive in taxes.

The worst of it is that you already paid sales tax when you bought it and the seller paid taxes for the money they made off it. The builders were taxed on the checks they made to build it, the suppliers were taxed on the materials they bought to build it, and on & on & on & on.....that one house has SO many taxes already associated with it.
