Everything and nothing at the same time. No bottom. And then - when you’re certain there is nothing beyond the emptiness - sparks appear. At first they’re blurred, almost polite, flickering in the corner of vision like something your eyes are making up to survive. Tiny particles of light, dancing in front of you. You don’t know if they’re real or just afterimages from staring into black for too long. So you reach out carefully. You let them land on your palm. You let them jump between your fingers. You don’t close your hand. You’re afraid that the moment you try to hold them, they’ll prove they were never there. But the heat is unmistakable.
