So since he poorly explained this, you should weigh your food prior to cooking it as some gain and lose weight due to water retention and water loss making tracking less accurate.

You do realize that rice goes from 40g to 120g because of the WATER, right? Water has ZERO calories, right?

WJW :
This is so ignorant. Weigh your pasta and rice dry and that’s the calories you’re consuming. 40g of uncooked pasta turns into 100g of cooked pasta because it absorbs water… you’d expect the weight of these to go up. It didn’t magically change the calories though. They’re still the same.

hey number skulls let’s break this down (for the ppl saying water doesn’t add calories) jim is in a calorie deficit and logs his calories to know if he is under. jim eats one box of pasta noodles. the box says 40 g so he puts 40 g into his calories tracker. Calorie tracker thinks he had 40 g of cooked pasta when he really had 100 g of cooked pasta. the tracker thinks he had less than half the pasta he actually ate. jim thinks he is in a calorie deficit but actually has been logging things incorrectly.

guys what its saying (for some of them) is that when you cook it then measure it it has the same calories but less mass so when you type it in to your appitiy app it will think you're eating less food
