I thought this song was fitting because Claire does, as a matter of fact, love rock n’ roll, 🎸 met Steve Burnside at a machine 🔫 turret (as opposed to a record machine), and because Steve is seventeen 😭 After their unfortunate meeting, he would proceed to make the rest of her journey throughout Rockfort Island and the Arctic exceedingly difficult in Code Veronica lol. 🙈. I would NOT have trusted that kid to fly the plane, either. ✈️ I know there’s a lot of Steve and Claire shippers out there, but I’ve always seen their interactions in Code Veronica as framed from Steve’s perspective, not Claire’s. He’s a child and Claire even addresses him as such, an unreliable narrator who is fantasizing about Claire due to proximity, 😍 while Claire’s kindness and maternal nature are together mistaken for reciprocation. He’s just another orphan for her to try and save, one whom I hope will be portrayed a little less creepily and more sympathetically in the remake. On a side note, I imagine Claire probably loves rock n’ roll a little less when her brother is the one playing it lol.
