See here, you've now added a layer to the original question. In the original, I'd pick the blue button to save as many lives as possible. But now, if it's my entire household, while I would love to do the blue option again, I am not overwriting my family's autonomy and would pick red for their safety.

Pampani :
here I will make it simple.
option 1: you guarantee your families safety.
option 2: you essentially give you your family a 75% chance of survival.
I would never put my children at that much risk.

you changed it to house hold instead of individual person. changes the original question

I don’t have enough faith in humanity to pick blue.

If you have to make a new hypothetical where yours is the right answer, you were probably wrong in the original

Lets say loved ones.. not household. Then it would be Red.
(it makes the Problem purely theoretical.. as there are parents grandparents etc etc etc.. who has to pick etc.)
You would only have fully informed people doing the picking. So Blue turns impossible.. as accidents turn 99.999999999999% impossible.
Blue is right with the original tho.

This is a messed up question. There is no downside to picking tbe red, and if everyone does, everyone lives.

I picked blue for the individual survival dilemma but I pick red immediately if I can warranty the security of my whole household.

For me it's about what I think other people will do. I don't have any faith that the majority would pick blue. It might happen and I'd be pleasantly surprised but I'm not gambling my life on it.

In this scenario red for sure, the additional layer changes a lot from the original question, interesting variant!

exactly right, if you have kids or anyone you are responsible for blue is the option, but if you have no one then you are responsible for only your life, and then red is the only option, just depends do you have people you have to take care of or not

an existential version of do you take one slice of pizza or three, because it looks like there's not enough for everyone.

In my opinion, the original question is supposed to show how much trust and unity there is in society. Low trust and unity (red). High trust and unity (blue). By trying to twist and modify the original question to suit your mindset (red), because you are afraid that someone close to you would choose differently than you (blue). So stick to the original wording, so everyone chooses for themselves.

yeah, I'm picking the blue button to save my family. I am taking the red pill to save my family. I dont have some altruistic view of the world. I just love my family and will prioritize their lives, always.

You exchange the word button with the word pill and people are gonna pick red because of the matrix LOL. (Red all the way, in every hypothetical)
