@tajacato: A few months ago I started taking a small dose of lantus in conjunction with using my insulin pump, all because my sugars were going crazy the week leading up to my cycle (basically from ovulation ➡️ to the first day of my cycle stating). It meant that my TIR, even though perfect during all other weeks, wreaked havoc on my overall management. It’s been 3 months, and not only is my TIR in a better range, but my A1C went down, too. It works well using Omnipod in automode because the basal settings automatically adjust, giving me less basal overall and helping me so I don’t feel like I am micro managing diabetes. Have you ever done a combo of long acting in conjunction with using diabetes tech? Would love to know!💙💉 #t1d #insulindependent #type1diabetes

I hope you're suspending any auto dosages. Your pump can't account for Lantus. Let alone Lantus that it doesn't know about. This seems super dangerous given than Lantus unlike fast acting takes a far longer time before it stops working. You could very easily have a stacked insulin event. If it works and keeps yout A1c in range then talk to your endo.

My only thing is I wish endos were more on board with this because this works great for me but my endo refuses to prescribe me regular amounts because she says it’s too risky.

perhaps more insight when choosing which pump is best for you, should be shared with pump users more. Tslim allows you to program different basal rates throughout the day for each hour. You can also create a profile for your cycle phases. Though it may be working; losing out on the data effects the algorithm greatly and taking long lasting can have a huge added risk.

Literally asked my endo if I could do this after my pump sent me into dka twice (literally for the exact results ur getting) and she said no🫩 so I just went back to pens and haven’t had a pump since, bc I thought they couldn’t work together at all when they clearly can

Lowkey Omnipod just sucks 😭 I kept switching between it and tandem and it’s just not worth how bad it

Hey! I just increase my basal during my luteal phase. I’m newly diabetic but realizing how much this has helped this month!! I also increased my carb factor by 10-1 rather than 12-1 ratio for the week leading up to it as well as during! I’ve noticed a huge change. 💕

I have a Medtronic pump and I was told by the Medtronic lady herself during set up to not take a long lasting that the whole point of switching to a pump. I do well though and stay over 80% most of the time. Also I like having a pump and not having to do extra shots ever, maybe switch pumps if you’re able too.

My Omnipod gives me barely anything for basal it seems like. It’s my only complaint with Omnipod. Makes sense this would help! I feel like Endo would not approve though. 😅
