Pastor James Manning is making some VERY controversial arguments about slavery, Africa and Black people including praising white Europeans for taking Africans out of Africa and suggesting that without them, he would be living in Congo drinking dirty water and living in a mud hut. But this raises a bigger question: how can a Christian pastor praise the very system that enslaved millions of Africans while ignoring the history and consequences of colonialism, exploitation and foreign intervention? And then we get to the clip of Manning and Lang ripping up a Quran… At this point, I couldn’t help but think about Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks. What was originally written as satire and parody sometimes feels uncomfortably relevant today. 😭 Sony is seriously missing an opportunity because if The Boondocks came back in the current political and cultural climate, Uncle Ruckus would have A LOT of material. And before anyone says I’m claiming every problem in Africa is caused by Europeans: absolutely not. African governments and leaders have responsibility for their own decisions. But pretending external interference, colonial legacies, foreign-backed conflicts, resource interests and proxy wars have played NO role in the instability of some African countries is simply dishonest. What do you think? Is Pastor Manning making a legitimate historical argument, or is this a complete distortion of African history? #africantiktok #BlackTikTok #UncleRuckus #BlackHistory #africanhistory
