I’m a Vancouver local who lives in LA- as someone who experienced the hsr popup, it was not the same 😭 the LA popup had a fully decorated space, limited time merch that launched for us first (of characters with no merch), good gifts of substance that weren’t cards, and RESTOCKS!! Also a theme. The genshin popup seemed to try and cover every single region ever.

in Toronto there was a Genshin pop up downtown last year but there was no outside line at all and there were a lot of cool things in stock even late😭 I wonder if the consumer culture changes from city to city

I was there on day 1, waited almost 5 hours. it was the same. there was hardly any clothing or interesting items, mostly pins and acrylics and shikishi boards. they had the tartaglia robes on display, but we weren't allowed to buy them??? absolute hot mess. and the store was tiny and crowded and you could barely even get a chance to actually see what was there. I went wedding dress shopping that morning. somehow the Genshin popup was the most stressful part of the day.

I went on day one, got there around an hour before it opened, waited in line for 4 hours and there was barely anything even then. Definitely felt like old merch, anything more recent or popular was gone. And the guoba tote was cute but also tiny :/ definitely kinda disappointed but still bought a bunch to make it worth it. Got some nice stuff but still not worth the 40 min wait!

I was in Japan earlier this year in Jan/Feb, the exact same Natlan merch was being sold for 50-75% off in a clearance bin. Was shocked to see the Vancouver prices, no reason for it to be fulll price

For the bag stuff, we went early on the second day and they still had a lot of bags left but they didn't give us a bag because you have to pay separately for genshin and zzz merch. My little brother spent $30+ on ZZZ merch and bought 1 genshin poster for I think $16? idk it just seemed very unfair to me considering he spent around $40 in total and we were never told it only applied to the genshin merch

ngl I thought the event would be set up in the open area with the fountains so people could walk around and interact with the cosplayers they had. Also me and a friend had traveled from the island for opening day, got there at 11 and the staff gave us a ticket to come back at 3.😭 Though while in line we talked to the staff and they said they weren't expecting such a large crowd because the posts didn't get a lot of interaction, so we told them that in bc event info spreads through word of mouth and that most of the time people would screenshot the posts and send it to friends. Honestly I hope for the next pop up they'll rent out a bigger space so we'd actually have room to move, can't say much about the prices tho 🫠
