I remember it so vividly. I was taking my college algebra final for summer semester, and when I was walking out to my car and turned my phone back on, I was getting a barrage a texts from family and friends asking if I was ok as everyone knew I was a huge MJ fan. I sat in my car and cried when I googled it and it was all over the internet. Later that day, I was meeting my family at Disney. We went to downtown Disney (Disney springs now) and they were only playing Michael Jackson music on the speakers. People were dancing and singing. I remember a dance circle and we saw so many talented dancers emulating Michael’s signature moves. It was amazing to watch😭💔 such a sad day. I hated it so much.

Disbelief and sadness 😭 Michael was the best Artist of all time. I started following him when I was 5 he was 10. I was beyond devastated.

The world stopped. The amount of media coverage, news, entertainment, documentaries, interviews, radio shows playing his music, music videos on every video channel station, magazines, newspapers, etc everything and I mean everything was all about him. They briefly spoke about any sort of major news then focused their attention on him. Everyone cried as if they knew him personally. A lot of people wore memorabilia, memorial shirts or his outfits. It was hard as a 12 year old kid at the time to understand how much of an impact he had on everyone and everything.

Living in Los Angeles studying acting, I got the call MJ died and that our class was cancelled. The girl who called me from the class couldn’t stop sobbing over the phone. Time stood still. The whole city felt it. I remember coming out sometimes in the early evening and there was a rainbow across the San Fernando Valley.
