CALL TO ACTION! U.S. Trustee is investigating the Scouting Settlement Trust and needs to hear directly from BSA Bankruptcy Survivors! The Six Issues the U.S. Trustee Documented 1. Future Claimants Jumping the Line Survivors who met their deadlines are now being told that future claimants — people who haven't filed yet — may receive equal or better treatment. You followed the rules. You deserve to know why others may not have to. 2. The FCR Payment Percentage Dispute On Feb. 17, 2026, the Future Claims Representative filed a motion demanding that his future claimants receive the same percentage payout as current survivors. This dispute is BLOCKING higher distributions to you right now. A hearing is set for June 15, 2026. 3. Healthcare and Attorney Liens Blocking Your Money Many survivors have been told their distributions are being held up by healthcare liens or attorney fee agreements. The U.S. Trustee wants the Trust to explain how it is resolving these and how long survivors must wait. 4. 4.7% — A Fraction of What Was Promised You were told the plan would pay 'all or substantially all' of your claims. The Trust has paid 1.5% plus a supplemental 3.2% — totaling only 4.7% — while administrative costs consume a disproportionate share of available funds. 5. Delays, Costs, and Re-Victimization Survivors have told the U.S. Trustee that the delays, the unexplained Trust costs, and the uncertainty around future claims are causing ongoing emotional harm. The process that was supposed to provide justice is re- victimizing them. 6. The Trust Does Not Respond Survivors and their attorneys report that the Trust's phone line and email are unresponsive — calls go unanswered, emails receive no reply, and claimants are left without basic information about their own claims. What To Do Right Now — Step by Step STEP 1 - Email the U.S. Trustee Directly Send an email to
[email protected]
(Hannah J. McCollum, Trial Attorney, U.S. Trustee's Office). Reference Case No. 20-10342-LSS and explain in your own words how the Trust's administration has affected you. You do NOT need an attorney to do this. STEP 2 - Call the U.S. Trustee's Office Phone: 202-573-3275. Ask to speak with the Trial Attorney handling the BSA Scouting Settlement Trust matter. Reference Case No. 20-10342-LSS. STEP 3 - Mail a Written Letter Send a letter to: Hannah J. McCollum, Esq., Trial Attorney, Office of the United States Trustee, J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building, 844 King Street, Suite 2207, Wilmington, DE 19801. STEP 4 - File a Letter Directly with the Court You can also file a letter directly with the Bankruptcy Court under Case No. 20-10342-LSS. Letters filed with the Court become part of the official record and are seen by the judge. You can do this without an attorney. Send to: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, 824 N. Market St., 3rd Floor, Wilmington, DE 19801. STEP 5 - Contact Your U.S. Senators and Representative The U.S. Trustee is part of the Department of Justice, which reports to Congress. Contact your U.S. Senators and Representative and explain that the Trust - which was supposed to deliver justice — is paying only 4.7 cents on the dollar while administrative costs pile up. Ask them to contact the DOJ's Executive Office for U.S. Trustees. STEP 6 - Share This Guide With Other Survivors The U.S. Trustee's motion notes that the more survivors who communicate, the stronger the record for the Court. Share this guide with other survivors, survivor networks, and attorneys representing BSA claimants.
