do not buy all memory foam unless you are super young and cant afford anything better or under 120 pounds. everything else she says is mostly pretty accurate but for the love of God buying a memory foam mattress will not only mess your back, retain more body heat but also break down faster

If ya'll don't mind a DIY project, you can literally DIY your mattress! I used a very detailed reddit thread on DIY matresses and I got a mattress worth 4K in materials for 1K and it'll last me 15 years. Ive had mine for 3 years and its the best sleep ive ever had in my whole life and i only have to replace one layer component here and there! 😌👌 if there is one thing I'll say to splurge on: Talay Latex foam! its very high quality and cooling too! ❤️

I worked at a mattress manufacturer, met my husband there. Not all innerspring mattresses are the same. There is the traditional innerspring, then there is the continuous coil innerspring. The continuous coil innerspring is superior even over the individually wrapped coil. Those are held in place in one of several ways, foam channels, or the encasing fabric is either glued to the next, or the coils are stapled together at the top. These are not great options. If they are glued, the glue will break down, encasing fabric rips, and there is nothing holding the coil in place. If it is a staple, they have been known to wiggle off over time and make their way up through the foam and fabric layers to poke you. Because of this I will never own an Individually wrapped coil innerspring mattresses. They are not as resilient as you think.

I went to my doctor with back pain. He said “get a new mattress”. I thought he was being dismissive but he was right. Invested in a temperpedic, no significant flare-ups since.

as someone who's worked in the mattress industry for almost 5 years now, this is all good information. good video! focus HEAVY on the CertiPur-US regulation. mattresses without are probably gonna have crappy foam and fiberglass in them.

I have no idea what my mattress is. I’m a bit of a “princess and the pea” type. I imagine it must be a hybrid. I’ve had it for 12-13 years. It was a floor close out model that I got for so cheap (for the type of mattress) and it’s still going strong. I could google it but it’s doing its job for now and the foreseeable future. I think about upgrading from a queen to a king occasionally though lol
