Never had a doubt I'd have a wild pregnancy and birth at home unassisted. I brought my boy here 9 months ago at 35 with a trusting partner. It was truly a hugely spiritual experience I'll never forget. May all women who wish/choose too, get to experience this freedom. Simply fantastical!💗

Initially I want to disagree because my midwife was incredible as a first time mom. She was 100% about autonomy & I had an unmedicated dream birth. She taught me how to prepare, trust and work with my body. She helped me with confidence. All that to be said, I also can agree with what you are saying here. I hired her because in the U.S. system we are programmed that you need assistance. And I was so scared of the hospitals and their fear based approach to birth. I did not want an unnecessary c section. It pushed me towards the midwife route. I hope to one day experience a completely unassisted birth

I wish I knew this! I had 2 midwives at my home birth, no drugs though and pushed for 2 hours. This then is prob why she got stuck!!! Xxx

Not to mention the cord cutting happening way too early in most births… That’s such a spiritual connection to our baby. I want the same things you have spoken about. I’m in my 30s and I’m waiting for the right person to come into my life who wants the same… a spiritual experience in bringing our child into the earthly realm. Shadow work has to be done, cord cutting from the evil things, to ensue it doesn’t pass to my child.

I had my son natural like I wanted. He was 11lbs. I’m very tiny. So he broke his shoulder on the way out and I have life long issues with my bladder and pelvic floor. I have severe nerve damage

I think a woman’s emotional wellbeing has a lot of influence on how a woman’s body responds to childbirth. Oxytocin (the love hormone) is needed to trigger labour, our bodies are designed to give birth at a time when we feel safe and loved… I just find that so fascinating. I was in a bad place emotionally and my partner was not supportive at all, and I was so stressed towards the end of my pregnancy. I would have needed to be induced, however had an elective c section instead. I then almost unalived after the birth because I haemorrhaged so badly (oxytocin is also needed to shrink the womb back, when that doesn’t happen, it can cause haemorrhaging)… Women need to be supported emotionally. I’m actually left traumatised by my birth and postpartum experience. I wish it had been the positive and spiritual experience it was meant to be.

@wavework.birthing talks about all this! As an ex labor nurse who has been OBSESSED with birth since I was a child. I deeply resonate with all of this. Yes yes yes! Thank you for speaking up about it, more women and families need to know. 🔥❤️— I myself am planning for a self directed birth, and I feel like I’ve been training my whole life thus far. 🔥
