Not all calories are absorbed the same. Two diets can contain the same calories on paper, but get absorbed differently in the body. This is the source of a huge argument in the fitness industry, is a calorie *really* a calorie? Some people say yes, all calories are the same because they are units of energy. Other people say no because once you ingest foods, the way those foods are broken down for energy can be very different. So, let me explain. Even though it is not always precise, relying on food labels is about the best tool we have. It would be impossible to accurately quantify how much energy from food you absorb. Even how much you chew a food can impact how well you digest that food and how much energy you retain. That being said, I think it’s a good reminder that: 1) calorie counting is never an exact science, and many people get too obsessive about it, trying to be perfectionistic about a process which can never be perfect. 2) just because two diets contain the same amount of energy, doesn’t mean that the net result is the same once you ingest that energy. I hope that helps. P.S. My new book ‘Everything Fat Loss’ is currently on sale at Amazon.com with an additional 10% discount in America, and 9% discount in the UK. Feel free to grab it before the price goes up (link on my profile page). #calorie #calories #caloriedeficit #caloriecounting #FitTok #GymTok #gym #Fitness #exercise #weightloss #fatloss #fit #fat #bodyfat #fatlosstips #weightlosstips #fatlossmyths #nutrition #diet #foryou #fyp #fypシ
