its not just weight. its texture too. the rain and other sources of water in Pacific rim (and Pirates of the Caribbean) does a lot of work to help sell these things being real. somthing about seeing them get wet, get dirty, get clean, and otherwise naturally move in the world really helps sell them, compared to the more clean, static, models we see nowadays.

It’s so frustrating that they never did a Godzilla crossover considering the rights to both franchises are owned by Lionsgate. The Kaiju, the rift being another dimension could have really allowed that to happen. We could have seen some cool characters from Toho come through the rift for the Jaegers to fight and when they get overwhelmed by the biggest ever, Godzilla comes through the rift to take it on with Gypsy Danger before Godzilla pulls it back through the rift and disappears.

They ran into this issue with the Wonder Woman movies. She was super strong but everything she picked up looked like a foam block. There wasn’t any weight behind anything she did, and it made every fighting scene look stupid. BRING WEIGHT AND STRUGGLING BACK.

thw godzilla movies are doing the same thing. the first one was amazing the second one pretty solid, except the story line it was weird, but you could see how they were changing things a little. after that though ehh not great

In the case of transformers tho its alot smaller so it does make sense that its less weighty but yea still feels a little light for the big ass cybertronians
