@maisonrickie: I was at the Berliner Philharmonie recently on the recommendation of @suminastuder and was mind blown at what I witnessed. But getting deeper into the history, I was even more mind blown. Berlin is a city with such a rich past and uncovering it slowly has been such a treat. I’m in Paris right now but I still have one more video from my time in Berlin! If you’re a creative/doing something cool here in Paris though, hit me up! I’m here for the next little bit ☺️
isn't one a theatre and one a concert hall? correct me if im wrong but a theatre is multipurpose and can hold performances like ballet and operas that requires a backstage. the Philharmonie Berlin is limited to philharmonic performances.

There used to be a lot of theaters in the round before the advent of proscenium staging. Like the historic globe theater in London famous for being Shakespeare's theatre of residence. They fell out of favor for a while, but there has been a resurgence of arena seating in the late 20th century. Here in the states we have the circle in the square in NYC.

This is why its so important to be curious and that being the main skill for the future. Most people have seen this stage in videos on the internet: jacob collier, bands, classical recordings and if you really pay attention you can google and learn and when you visit, you know many things you want to go to and not wait to see what the tour offers. Read, listen and be curious.

Chicago Shakespeare theater is set up like The Rose back in the day. Audience surrounding the stage. And don’t get me started on the architecture for the acoustics. No mics needed

MN has Theater in the Round, and seeing a play there is such a cool experience. I highly recommend it bc you are right up close and personal with the actors. The limited props add so much emphasis on each thing.

In 1952 John Cage organized Theater Piece no. 1. The performance similarly took place in the center of the hall with the intent that each member of the audience would have a different experience, also making them part of the performance.
