I added $85 more to my bi weekly budget. I could not get all of our items yesterday and we already cut treats, switched to off brand and coupon when possible. I cried in the parking lot. I am a single mom a son on the spectrum. He has severe food aversions. I don't know what to do to feed us! I have a college degree! I work 5 days a week.... what is a person to do??? I actually scared for our future.

As a widow who lost her husband and became an empty nester in 2024… I can’t fucking figure out how my Aldi trip is never less than $40 now. I’m not even kidding, I avoid the grocery store like the plague now. Legitimately, I just don’t eat. Like it has racked my anxiety to the level that, no, I can’t justify eating out or getting groceries to eat at home.

My fiancé used to make fun of me bc I stock up on shelf stable items every time they were on special, even things that I didn't eat that often. But recently all those items I've hoarded have supplemented actual groceries so we can stick to some sort of budget. He was still living at home in 2008, I was freshly living on my own and remember eating my last ramen pack with 3 days left to payday. Ever since then, if I have money to stock up, I do. It's a trauma response at this point.
