I have a high functioning disability. I drive. My boyfriend doesn’t have a disability. He is from Troost and has never had a drivers license. The bus runs constantly in MO but not in KS. He did try and take a driving class. Unfortunately, in order to drive somebody else’s car you need insurance. So right now that isn’t happening as that’s too expensive. I have really bad insomnia. I can’t always pick him up or drop him off. Uber can be expensive. I wish there were more options out there. A good resource for small businesses is JCCC has a small business development center. They help people start us small businesses.

Yes start with the city first. Maybe reach out to City hall and talk to the local government in town to see what you would need to do. This is such an amazing thing you are doing!! You can possibly also talk to day programs for individuals that are disabled or have guardians. Those workers are so knowledgeable and may have resources too!

my grandparents had a taxi company down in Vernon county, MO that served the disabled community. they had to go to the city and bid for the disabled service because the city paid for it. unfortunately they had to get out of the business because that particular city was low balling the cost. 😞 but I'd start with the city and see what requirements you'd have.
