I keep a “regift” basket in a closet. If someone gets me a gift I don’t necessarily need or want it goes in the basket. Then when a gift giving occasion comes around I shop the closet first.

Thank you. I took the time to write these down instead of just saving and scrolling. If it helps anyone, there was another organizer who gave a good tip on gifts and that was- it’s already served its purpose. Sometimes the purpose of a gift is simply that someone felt the need to give you something and they did. If you’re not going to use it, let it go. It’s served its purpose. This has helped me release some of that guilt of giving away a gift.

These are great! Any advice on sentimental items? Nostalgia runs strong. My parents dropped off boxes from my youth and man it’s filled with so much stuff. Art, sports equipment, journals, yearbooks, photo albums…ahhhhhh

I’m curious about clothing… I love going to estate sales and seeing people’s vintage clothing but they needed to hold on to those pieces for years in order to end up with “vintage clothing” right? Or someone needs to… how do we go about that without holding on to boxes and boxes? I currently have boxes with clothes from high school and probably some even older than that
