@melissajbyrnex: I’m ready for the discourse this video will bring but man I am so sick of the victim blaming that comes with speaking out. There is no such thing as a perfect victim.

No, let’s stop babying this woman. It’s an insult to everyone else with mental health issues. She was so self-absorbed.

I’m convinced she was groomed by him, he had motive to have her close to him, he led her into a vulnerable position

That procurator fiscal needs to give his head a wobble too. Yes she's an intelligent woman who works in health care who would know where to get support. when you are in a mental health crisis you cannot make rational decisions. She was let down very badly by the system.

What I saw and I may be completely wrong, was a woman who was going through a mental breakdown, getting progressively manic and psychotic, turning to drink and narcotics to “ease” the symptoms. She believed and was swept up into a whirlwind romance, had to endure being told about the murder and came down from that initial high relatively quickly. We can’t know what she was feeling but seeing how she portrayed herself and to an extent still does, shows the type of person she was and has become through this period of time.

The perfect victim is a 💀 one. And even then people will still blame them

Much easier to blame the woman as she’s an easy target. Let’s not blame the people responsible. My take..? Undiagnosed adhd, has a few quirks, trauma bonded and cannot leave, major self esteem issues due to being conditioned to be an”perfect child” and “getting a good career”, very vulnerable and turned to substances and the lifestyle he gave her for comfort and escapism

I think it reinforces the fact that there is no such thing as a “perfect victim/witness”. Trauma impacts us in various different ways- no two people react the same way.

she wasn't a well girl when she met him. She was vulnerable and clearly self-medicating and was not thinking or behaving like a rational person would. Her previous relationship wasn't explained in any great detail, so no-one really knows what damage that caused her. Trauma literally rewires your brain. Traumatised people simply can't act like non-traumatised people

I don’t think some people realise that you have to actually practise and put effort into empathy. The easy thing to do is demonise this woman, but it takes some effort to look past your own biases and initial reactions to think about how damaging and disorienting her situation was. None of us are perfect and none of us behave perfectly, so we have to learn to give some grace.

He’d still be buried if she didn’t do that! She was obviously going mental & all the police did was throw her under the bus 😅

People who are blaming her and making her the monster have never experienced mental health problems. She was so manic and psychotic that she was trying everything to stop these feelings, even go to a murderer to get scraps of affection.

I had nothing but empathy for her, everything she said and did i understood. I didnt realise people were thinking so negatively of her until this post. I have been in a situation I dont want to say similar - but I could relate. you never know what you will do or how you will react until you're in that moment. but im glad the majority have not had to experience anything like that to be able understand 💕
