I always found an interesting parallel between Jon and dany and their desires for their life vs what they do because of their birth status. Jon is offered a path to power which is what he wants and dreams about but refuses because of his birth status as a bastard. Dany on the other hand wants the simple life, the life with the red door with the lemon tree. She could’ve chosen a life with the Dothraki that she loved, or try and run off with daario which is also wants to do but stays on her path and chooses power because of her birth status of being the last dragon

In asoiaf no character is 100% delusional. Even though Catelyn was wrong for how she treated Jon, from her POV she wasn't completely wrong to distrust him. Jon DID want Winterfell even though he never tried to act on those feelings.
