i think you can separate the chosen style of gameplay by the devs from the story enough that the criticisms by the game don’t get particularly blurred

I don’t think it’s for toxic masculinity, we see “great true masculine” men like Adolf in Venus, pointing out that it’s just a facade and it’s also shown how bj treats others, he isn’t killing because he likes it, and while you could argue the game portrays it as necessity, he’s fighting Nazis. He’s shown debating against the preacher instead of his way or the high way. He lets Anya wear his jacket in the end of wolfenstein 2 because he sees her as equal. At no point does he see Anya or any other woman in the franchise as lesser merely because of gender. Another very important point is who he is not just to his friends but to the resistance and the Nazis, they see him as the boogeyman of the Nazis, the hero of the resistance. So he has to always keep his shield up so it makes Anya calling him out even more important. Overall I agree with and love your videos keep it up

So I’m gonna say what I say with the knowledge of I have platinumed the whole series. Besides cyber pilot but that game just destroyed and radical push Wolfenstein 2 had but anyway. So it’s not just me talking out of my ass lol. I think with the toxic masculinity and masculine violence ideas, which I think you are correct on. I think something interesting to look at is a question. Did the violence work? No, at the end of most games they don’t really change much of anything. It starts something. But At the end of 2 hitler is not dead, you CAN kill hitler but that leads to a game over. And another question appears, can you beat an ideology out of entire populations of people? No. And in my opinion I think the next game should focus on BJ dismantling this sort of idea that “killing nazis” will be effective, cause at this point it hasn’t and it won’t be. Cause I think the entire series has been a demonstration of BJ as the paragon of toxic masculinity, nationalism, the American dream of “freedom,” and honestly it should go towards the Kratos style of character change. Where something is introduced to cause him to introspect. Cause in 2 it’s seems like he is willing to accept certain facts of life and that he is wrong on certain fronts. It’s mostly hard to tell since I think there supposed to be a new game? And with that new game If it’s the end, maybe it’ll provide a complete overview of how Wolfenstein as a modern series discuses the idea of Toxic masculinity as an entity.
