went to paddle out at Punta de Lobos during their big wave competition between heats. cleanup set came as I was standing on a rock, exposed, about 15 feet over water on one end and dry rocks on the other. whitewater came in about 5 feet over the rock I was on and i got washed off the rock into the dry rocks behind me. miraculously, I only got a little gash on my leg and a couple dings on my board, no broken bones. the current just sucked me straight out into the channel and I even got a wave fueled by the adrenaline. can still see that wall of whitewater coming at me thinking "well im fucked."

I once got bet 50 bucks to charge the biggest wave I saw( crazy once a year 3 meter swell)( I am bodyboarding). After fighting for my life to get out. I finally see the wave. Charge it, and instantly proceed to pull in. Only for it to start closing, so I do the only logical thing and ditch my board and try go through the wave. My leash wraps around my neck and the sheer horror makes me exhale. After who knows how long under. I finally stop tumbling. Get my leash off my neck and swim to the surface. I take a half breath of air and half breath of water before getting absolutely slammed by the next wave. When I eventually popped up again. I was seeing pin pricks but I had need washed close to the shore. After a 20 min rest I went back out and had an amazing session

I had a massive and really thick wave about 6-7 foot land right on me while I was still on my bored. Got held under for ages and got slammed head first onto the sand. I thought I was gonna drown and when I came up my bored was snapped in 3 pieces. Had to swim back to shore with my snapped bored while getting pounded by waves

dropped in at pipeline on a big day, late drop..went over the falls. The wave crushed me into the reef, next wave picked me up and did the same thing. Broke 2 ribs and dislocated my shoulder😭

Was bodyboarding a reef on a big cyclone and this bomb set came I didn’t paddle hard enough then I tried to pull of but it took me over the fall and I landed straight on the ledge and the ledge was only like ankle deep the next one that came was even bigger and it slammed me on the ground so hard I almost passed out and I broke my arm and my wrist

Not me only but my buddies too half way to the Baja Tip an Island lies with a spectacular beach break but on the west side is a offshore reef we thought to paddle out too farther than we thought. This peak was open ocean and nothing until sudden 15 footers that came from 2 directions. Just a LOOKOUT out of nowhere situation. Everyone of em was a giant suck out. We all were just getting pitched and dragged into the field of pain. Boards tombstoning. When you came up the wave was GONE- deep water again. Very weird. When you made one you went so hard a bottom turn was 50 yards of drawing turn…and the wave just was gone glassy water and nothing. The local fishermen would be driving their pong as well inside of us. One came and made us get in” mucho Grandes Tibarons Aqui” What a wave. Crazy crossed swells and danger. The wipeouts were just crazy. Big top to pit falls followed by a 45 seconds drag. Insanity

3 occasions I thought I was gonna die but the funniest one was at 6-8ft Gas Chambers on the north shore. free fall with the lip to the impact spot and get blown out of the water 10ft. Nothing but air surrounded me. The impact ripped my trunks completely off and half way down my leash. Took 3 more waves on the head before I could paddle to the channel and pull them up.

Went to Huntington during a good swell bout 7-10 footers first wave of the day I tried to catch just completely messed up timing dove head first down getting pounded got up got my board another 10 footers straight on the head kept getting pushed in and pounded and then sucked right back out the min I hit the surface

Tried to paddle out in 8-10ft swell, started off clean until the current started pulling me sideways into the impact zone I remained calm and kept paddling but the current was too strong I was paddling in one spot not moving and then I watched as the wave of the day approximately 10ft in size landed directly on my head I tried to duck dive it but that just helped it push me further down until I hit the sand this wave was so powerful it just pinned me against the sand and kept me there for what felt like an eternity probably only like 15 seconds but I hit the sand so hard it knocked all the air out of me I was legit about to pass out from lack of oxygen I started gasping uncontrollably under water inhaling water and at that moment the wave finally let me go and I could see the light so I swam to the surface and finally got a breathe of air, probably only got half a breathe in before another exactly like the last lands directly on my head again except this time it didn’t pin me down instead it drags me along with it flipping me over and over like a washing machine I was so disorientated I didn’t know which way was up but the hold down was only like 10 seconds I had to pull my leash to figure out which was was up I finally made it to the surface feeling absolutely defeated I grabbed my board and paddled in as fast as I could after reaching the shore I collapsed on the beach and just laid there thanking god for not letting me die for like an hour while I slowly recovered. I truly thought I was not making it back home that day but god is good 🙏

I sent it on like a 6 foot wave so not to big and I dropped in and tried to hit a turn but the wave reformed and dropped another 3 feet 😭 I didn’t know what to do and didn’t wanna ditch my hoard bc it was brand new and I dropped off onto like 2 inches of water and I watched my board go over my head in the falls and it whacked me in the knee and I got slammed into the sand
