@olderfitterstronger: Walking is a hobby. Strength is a requirement. We lose muscle at a rate of about 3-4 % a year from the age of 30 so if you tell everyone ‘I’m really active, I walk every day ‘ then that is amazing and I salute you, but it’s not going to prevent muscle loss (sarcopenia). Please don’t think I’m anti walking. I LOVE a good walk but it isn’t my priimary exercise and it isn’t building strength. Here’s the simple routine to add in , in addition to your walks . Your Lpngevity Circuit 3 x 10 squat to a chair or bench 3 x 10 elevated press ups 3 x 10 side lunges 10 little jumps ( if they are too much for the knees, just lift the heels high and then drop them quickly) #activeageing #over60fitness #functionaltraining #seniorhealth
What do you recommend for 74yr olds? My mother is 74yrs old and starting to see the signs of muscle loss. Getting up and down is so difficult. I want to do exercises with her to help her with her mobility.
